The Mexican Alligator Lizard, also known as the Alligator Lizard, was described by American herpetologist Edward Drinker Cope in 1864. These lizards exhibit various colors depending on the exposure to UVB light. They can appear bright green when exposed to natural sunlight but take on a neon greenish-blue hue when under UVB light.
Adult alligator lizards can grow up to 12 inches in length and possess a slender tail that makes up nearly half of their total length. They are slow-moving reptiles and tend to bite when they feel threatened.
