It’s Thanksgiving Week, and that means another Dallas Cowboys holiday game is right around the corner. This year, Dallas faces an NFC East foe in the Washington Commanders, who are coming off of a dismal performance against the similarly lowly New York Giants this past Sunday.
While this contest is expected to be a blowout, Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Smith isn’t sleeping on Washington.
Smith noted he has an “any given Sunday type of mentality” when facing squads who aren’t playing well. He got brutally honest, stating, “They may be a wounded animal now, but they still got fangs. You can get bit.”
Cowboys host the Commanders (4-7) this Thursday on Thanksgiving. LG Tyler Smith when asked about facing teams that are struggling: “It’s an any given Sunday type of mentality. …They may be a wounded animal now, but they still got fangs. You can get bit.”

Smith is keeping it incredibly real despite being heavily favored, and that’s hopefully the exact same attitude everyone in the locker room has ahead of Thursday. We saw Dallas come out lax earlier this season versus the Arizona Cardinals, and Mike McCarthy’s squad was handed an embarrassing loss in return.
Yes, the Commanders have lost seven games already this season, but this is also the same roster that gave the Philadelphia Eagles a serious run for their money in Week 4. That kind of unexpected result speaks to the unpredictability of each game, no matter who’s involved.
Hopefully the Cowboys do take advantage of this opportunity, though, and crush Washington to pad their record down the stretch. This matchup is one of the team’s easiest to close the 2023 campaign while dates with the Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions await.
