Friday’s miserable weather in Kansas City made for travel headaches for fans coming to the AFC Championship Game. That included Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s grandparents, Herman and Virginia. They were on a flight that made it to St. Louis, but the connecting flight to Kansas City was canceled.
A Chiefs fan named David Fearn then stepped up and offered to drive them the rest of the way. Fearn, who lives in Tennessee but grew up in Leavenworth, had been on the plane with Hill’s grandparents that made it to St. Louis. David Fearn also invited a lawyer and his wife, as well as another Chiefs fan named Dustin, for the trip. So the six made the journey across I-70.
In a Twitter message with The Star, Fearn’s son, Dakota, said Chiefs fandom runs deep in his family. “(David Fearn’s) father went to Super Bowl 1 and ever since he has been a fan,” Dakota Fearn wrote. “He raised me and my sister to be Chiefs fan while living in (Tennessee). And proud to say we’ve been huge fans our whole lives thanks to him! He would’ve driven anyone in need to get home and was just doing the right (thing).” Dakota Fearn, shared this photo on his Twitter account of his dad with Hill’s grandparents:
