Just a short time after “beating” Diablo IV, Elon Musk continued to try his hand at another “kill monsters and pick up items” game.
Coming from developer Grinding Gear Game (GGG), Path of Exile 2 is the sequel to the 2013 game Path of Exile, and is currently only available in Early Access.
Players will spend about $30 to experience the game early, and when the game is released for free (expected next year), gamers will receive a number of gifts corresponding to the amount spent.
Path of Exile 2 (PoE2) is creating a big fever in the action RPG gaming community, when it owns a deep game system, including many interesting mechanisms and a massive skill table, which can satisfy the passion for optimizing the character of many gamers. In terms of skill depth, PoE2 is much superior to Diablo IV.
That’s probably why Elon Musk wanted to try PoE2, after achieving high results with Diablo IV. However, after playing for a short time, Elon Musk’s account… had problems.
According to his post on the X platform, Elon Musk was “kicked” out of the game by the system, due to performing too many actions in too short a period of time.
In the video game industry there exists a software called macros, which can be used to automate a series of small tasks, such as pressing a series of buttons.
With games with many buttons and functions like Diablo IV, PoE2 or World of Warcraft, using macros can save gamers time and effort: basically, the macro software will … press skills for you. In some games, this behavior is considered cheating when gamers are not directly playing the game.
According to Musk’s post, it seems that the game PoE2 thought that he used third-party software to perform too many operations in too short a period of time, so it “kicked” him out of the game for suspicion of using cheating software.
In the post, Elon Musk also confirmed that he did not “use macros” and said that the game will soon fix this “bug” in future patches.
Musk’s post raised many questions in the community: did Elon Musk use third-party software to play PoE2, or was Elon Musk really able to press so many buttons that the game thought he was “cheating”?
Skepticism also comes from the fact that Elon Musk runs too many companies to play games that much. On top of that, Elon Musk is also planning to start his own AI game development studio, claiming that it will “make video games great again”.
