Throughout Toneka’s pregnancy, she diligently attended doctor’s appointments and underwent an array of tests to ensure a healthy delivery. In June 2021, Jireh entered the world, a bundle of joy who captured her parents’ hearts. Thankfully, the medical team swiftly alleviated their worries by diagnosing Jireh with Congenital Melanocytic Nevus (CMN), a condition characterized by pigmented growths on the skin present at birth. Though these spots were only superficial, the diagnosis brought immense relief to T oneka and Justin, assuring them of Jireh’s well-being.
Unlike many other conditions, CMN is not hereditary. It stems from an abnormal development of pigment cells during the first trimester of pregnancy, affecting approximately one percent of infants worldwide. While it usually remains benign, it carries an elevated risk of melanoma.
