Ciara shared some insight into her relationship with husband Russell Wilson during a recent appearance on Jenna Bush Hager’s talk show.

The “1, 2 Step” singer has been married to the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback since 2016. While co-hosting Today with Jenna & Friends on Friday, Jan. 31, Ciara said there is one tradition that she and the NFL star have maintained over the years. The show later shared a clip from their conversation on Instagram.

“Date night every Friday. We’ve done that since our beginning days of dating each other,” Ciara, 39, told Bush Hager, adding that Friday nights tend to be a good time for Wilson since he doesn’t have the same kinds of job commitments he has on other nights of the week.

The Grammy Award winner said that while she loves spending time with her four children—she has son Future, 10, from a previous relationship and shares daughters Sienna, 7, and Amora, 1, and son Win, 4, with Wilson—“I love being with Russ, too.”

“I need that,” she said of their date nights. “It’s my moment for us to connect on what’s happening and, like—even things in the house. You have to do that. And then you get to connect and kind of unwind. So that’s necessary for me.”

Ciara said having that special time alone together reminds her of the time when she and Wilson, 36, first started dating. “I say you have to search for the beginning constantly in a relationship,” she explained. “And that beginning feeling that you have, that giddy feeling, it just continually comes back when you’re committed to each other in that way.”

Fans praised the “Goodies” singer as many agreed that her tip “is the best advice to keep your relationship strong..”
