Dak Prescott could be replaced at Cowboys by… Derek Carr?

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Saints QB, Derek Carr.

he Dallas Cowboys are facing a potential contract dilemma with Dak Prescott as he enters the final year of his contract. According to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, there are no “imminent” talks or contract offers in place for Prescott’s extension. While a new contract could still be negotiated, there is also the realistic possibility that Prescott might be playing his final season in Dallas.

In light of this situation, Christopher Kline of FanSided has proposed a trade scenario where the Cowboys would pursue Derek Carr from the New Orleans Saints if Prescott decides to leave. Kline believes that this could be the Cowboys’ best chance to acquire a proven starter, citing Carr’s four Pro Bowl appearances and his ability to make bold throws and create explosive plays.

Dallas Cowboys v Washington Commanders

Kline suggests that the Saints might consider trading Carr due to the increasing competitiveness in the NFC South, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons emerging as strong contenders. He points out that with the Saints’ new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak likely to introduce elements of Kyle Shanahan‘s offense, Carr could be a good fit in New Orleans.

Derek Carr has been a consistent performer in the NFL, having thrown for at least 21 touchdown passes in eight of his 10 seasons as a starter. Despite his steady performance, Carr’s overall record stands at 72-87, which raises questions about his ability to lead a team to consistent success.
