Suffering from a peculiar “wrinkled skin” condition, the infant is considered a “mutant” that her parents refuse to raise. Following her critical condition, her grandfather, Dilip Dode, aged 50, took her to a hospital in Mumbai, approximately 138 kilometers away, where the medical staff provided treatment free of charge. Mr. Dilip Dode expressed gratitude towards the doctors who attended to his grandchild, highlighting that during his daughter-in-law’s pregnancy, regular check-ups at the local health center did not reveal any other issues with the baby.
Minnie Bodhanwala, operating at the hospital, stated, “We are conducting tests and will do our best to treat this rare disease.” The grandfather, employed as a casual worker, is striving to earn additional income to ensure proper care for his granddaughter instead of relying on his son and daughter-in-law.
The 2-week-old baby faced abandonment from her parents due to her skin appearing aged and wrinkled, showcasing the challenges posed by this unusual disease.
